Same Sex Weddings
Same sex weddings, or commitment ceremonies, have become more popular as more states have made these unions legal. Currently, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, and Connecticut. New Hampshire plans to join this group in January 2008.
How can you plan one?
The folks at GayWeddings.com have put together a complete guide to help you through the process. This site provides planning tips from the ceremony to the reception.
Much like a traditional wedding, you need a location, invitations, food, music, and decorations. On the GayWeddings.com shopping page, they sell boy/boy and girl/girl cake toppers and guest books. They also provide a link to gay wedding planning books sold on Amazon.com, such as The Essential Guide to Lesbian and Gay Weddings (pictured below) and Gay and Lesbian Weddings (pictured above).
For the invitations, check out the line at OutVite.com. They custom print gay and lesbian stationery.
Other items such as favors, decor, and music can be as traditional as untraditional as any other wedding.
Finding gay-friendly vendors in your area is a definite bonus.
