Let's Plan An Engagement Party

He bought the ring and popped the question.
She cried, screamed, hugged him, kissed him, and eventually said "Yes."
This is a great reason to celebrate. Let's have a party.

The level of fabulosity can range from cocktails & hors d'ouevres to coffee & dessert and everywhere in between.

Traditionally, the bride's parents throw the engagement party in their home. With many couples waiting until they are more independent before they get married, the most likely places for an engagement party are at their own home, a restaurant, or another place that holds special significance for the couple.

Just for fun, let's plan an engagement party: Sunday brunch at a restaurant.

I'm going to choose a Cuban restaurant with Latin music and a cigar rolling booth so the fellas can enjoy a fresh cigar. Dine on tropical delights such as warm banana bread, sweet potato croquettes filled with savory beef picadillo, omelettes with lump crab meat or pork, or a coconut-scented waffle with a pina colada drizzle. Drinks can include mojitos, pina coladas, margaritas, and coffee.

When planning the guest list, keep in mind that this will be a more intimate affair than the actual wedding, but don't invite anyone who will not be invited to the wedding. Make sure everyone knows each other before the end of the party. Gifts are optional and should not be expected.
