Wedding Trends for 2008
Before we look at the predicted wedding trends for 2008, I want to take a look back at what we thought would be big in 2007.
- Glamour - Elegance and sophistication. No casual gatherings.
- Details on the back of wedding dresses- Embroidery, monograms, lace-backs, deep V-backs.
- Sleeves - short cap sleeves, lace shrugs, off-the shoulder
- Romantic details - lace, embroidery, beading on dresses, tables, chairs, and stationery
- Bold jewel tones - Purple, gold, orange, red, blue, and green.
- Square tables - Clean, modern look
- Green weddings - Environmentally-friendly. Recycled paper invitations, natural settings, organically-grown flowers and foods.
- Destination weddings in Italy (thanks to TomKat)
- Entertaining cocktail hour - comedians, dancers, fire-eaters, fortune-tellers
- Unusual locations- zoo, aquarium, castle, barn
So, what should we expect in 2008?

- Wedding dresses with emphasized waists - Obi belt and colored sashes
- Custom invitations to reflect the couple's style and personality
- Yellow - Fresh and energetic. Combine with white, chocolate brown, or silvery gray (see my inspiration board below) for totally different effects.
- Silver - Yes, for the bride's dress. Unforgettable. Also good for flowers, linens, and other decorative accents. If you are more traditional, look for silver shoes to peek out from under your dress.
- Bold jewel tones are back for another year but in matte fabrics like chiffon instead of satin.
- Green weddings are also returning this year. (I think this is going to become a permanent staple instead of a trend.)
