Flowers
The bride should visit a florist with some basic knowledge about the types of flowers she wants to include in her wedding. Flowers will be needed to decorate the ceremony and reception locations. Personal flowers include the bride’s bouquet, bridesmaids’ flowers, corsages for the mothers and boutonnieres for the men in the wedding.
Discuss your wedding plans with the florist so she can recommend flowers that will stand up to the conditions.
A bouquet made up of a single type of flower in one color is traditional. Remember the cascading bouquets from the 1980s and 1990s? They are making a comeback. Hand-tied stems are still popular. Wrap the stems in various fabrics and styles.
Save money on your wedding cake by requesting a plain cake then adding fresh flowers for decoration. Choose flowers that won’t wilt quickly. Be sure to have the flowers removed from the cake before freezing the top.
Ask your florist to provide any extra flower petals from your arrangements and bouquets. These can be given to the cake designer to decorate the tiers of the wedding cake or the cake table. They can also be used to decorate the head table, place card or gift table.

Most flowers come in a variety of colors. Try to coordinate with your color scheme. If the bridesmaids are wearing red dresses, pink, white, or ivory flowers will really pop. If the flower you want is not available in your desired color, your florist can dye it for you.
